Emerging technologies are enabling a new generation of innovations in the delivery of education, elderly care, community building and so on. Technology plays a prominent role in cost saving to deploy technology to solve social problems as well as a direct medium to engage with the targeted groups. We are looking to explore the insights of which technology can facilitate the delivery of social innovation in this seminar.

Jack CHEN, General Manger, HEYCOINS

Jack Chen is a millennial who feels passionate about entrepreneurship. Prior to joining team HEYCOINS, he has worked in a great variety of organizations across industries such as Ingdan (H.K), E-Joy Cultural Creative Co., Ltd (China), Asian Pacific Environmental Network (U.S.) and the Hong Kong Maritime Museum (H.K). He was also a visiting student researcher at University of California, Berkeley. These experiences have enabled him to develop a valuable and transferable skill set across different sectors.

Julie DELIGNON, Country Manger, HelperChoice

Passionate about sharing economy, new business models and innovation, Julie is Country Manager at HelperChoice: she develops this innovative peer-to-peer platform to disrupt and make more ethical the way foreign domestic workers are hired and managed in Asia and in the Middle East. Graduated from HEC Paris, Julie was previously working at Accenture as a Business Strategy Manager.

SL Robert LIU, CEO & Founding Partner, Yintran Group (銀傳集團)

Shandong decent (山東), born in Taipei (出生於台北), raised in Tokyo and the US (東京與美國長大).  Spent last 20+ years in Hong Kong (家於香港).  Engineering and banking in HK, NY, LA, and Silicon Valley.   Graduate of W&M (High Honors), Stanford (Engineering), UCLA (MBA).

Developed a HK e-wallet that allows anyone or any merchant to make or receive payment via mobile with bank-grade security.  A Hong Kong based company, started and developed in Hong Kong, with focus on technology, security, design and innovation.   Founders are senior banker (CS, UBS), lawyer (MNC) and engineer (MIT, Apple, Microsoft) who have the passion in technology, design and innovation. Our mission is to allow people to money transfer with the lowest possible barrier.

Koen MUNNEKE, CEO, GROM

I’m the CEO & Co-Founder of GROM. GROM helps therapists seamlessly 3D scan, fill out prescriptions, and liaise with their laboratory of choice. This results in reduced cost and turnaround time of these highly customized orthotics for doctors, laboratories, and patients.Our application helps doctors medical devices (ie. insoles, prosthetics, etc.) to their patients without friction. Since launching our service in December 2016 the GROM team (500 Startups, Citi, AT&T, Nielsen, etc.) and its advisors (Sportsperformance, Q9 Orthopaedics, Lauren Bramley) have redefined the process through which podiatrists serve their patients.

Today, Koen primarily focuses on defining the long term strategy, HR, and fundraising for GROM and executing with his dedicated team. At the same time, his love for problem solving keeps him involved in the development of new products; extending the infrastructure which he developed in Asia; and going around the office and helping solving day to day problems in any layer of the company.

Suzanne SO, Co-founder, Joy Sprouts

So was named one of the top 50 women in tech ‘dominating Silicon Valley” and led Joy Sprouts to be recognised as one of the 2013 Top Start-up by TiE50, which selected 50 most innovative companies from 1,200 companies worldwide.

With more than a decade’s worth of professional experience in the children’s business, she cofounded Joy Sprouts to help the next generation of learners grow smarter, kinder, and more well balanced through a more informed and adaptive way. Thanks to the team’s dedication to Joy Sprouts’s mission, the flagship app, “Joy Sprouts,” has received more than 8 awards from the United States.  Prior to Joy Sprouts, she  served as a brand and licensing manager of Angry Birds and the Smurfs, a project manager for over 40 promotional campaigns of McDonald’s (winning the ‘Best Marketing Campaign of the Year’) and a taxation accountant in Australia. Suzanne is a Chartered Accountant, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Marketing and Accounting) from the University of New South Wales, as well as an MBA from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Matthew Tam, Co-founder, Social Career

Matthew Tam is the Executive Officer and Co-founder of Social Career, a technology startup and non-profit organisation. Social Career is building a new platform that encourages the general public to volunteer and get involved in social causes and service activities. Matthew is also the CEO and Co-founder of Around, a technology startup focusing on building a neighbourhood network in combination with a home concierge service. The startup won several awards including the Google EYE program and the HK ICT award.

Prior to co-founding Social Career and Around, Matthew held several positions with major European and US investment banks and he has a Masters degree in Industrial Management and Manufacturing with focus in Technology and Innovation Management from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.

Wanleung WONG, Co-founder, TinyBoy 3D Printer

As Co-Founder of TinyBoy 3D Printer, Co-Founder of Linkomnia Ltd., Vice-President of Hong Kong Creative Open Technology Association (HKCOTA) and Vice-Chairman of Hong Kong Linux User Group (HKLUG), Wan-leung has over 10 years experience with support of communities in Hong Kong with Open Source Technologies, F/OSS and Linux. He believes that newbies and developers can utilize F/OSS and open technologies in their projects such as: virtualisation, backend services, monitoring system, open source hardware, DIY gateway and so on… to improve their value proposition.
